Day 1 Food Journal

So I am back on the road to fitness and step one is a pictorial food journal I figure what better way to keep track of whats going in my body than through pictures.

I am not a big breakfast eater which is a big weight loss no-no, but this morning after dropping the little one off at school I made myself eat breakfast.

I whipped out my GT Express and made the breakfast biscuit or whatever it is called. I shapped 2 biscuits in the shape of an oval topped it with egg beater eggs (seasoned with-- seasoning salt and minced onions) and precooked bacon closed the lid and went on with my day. After 8 minutes this what I was left with. In the picture it kind of looks funny but I assure you it tasted great.

.
I washed this down with an 8 ounce glass of Soy Chocolate Milk. This is the first time I have had the chocolate soy milk and I honestly couldn't taste a difference.

Calories: (Will update this section tonight)

Biscuits (2):
Egg Beaters:
Precooked Bacon (2 slices):
Chocolate Soy Milk (8oz):
AM Snack:
Fruit and Grain Cereal Bar

Lunch: I had a picture but no idea what happened to it. I had one hotdog with a bun ketchup and mustard. This is a big change for me seeing that I usually eat 2 hotdogs and slop on mustard ketchup relish and whatever else I can get my hands on. LOL!!

PM Snack: Red Grapes I lost count after 10 but these are low in calories and healthy so why count.

Dinner:  I had 1 baked pork chop with homemade spaghetti. The pork chop was about 3 oz and I used whole wheat linguini noodles for the spaghetti, ground turkey ground beef, ragu mushroom and onion sauce diced tomatoes mushrooms.

Extra: Hey I think overall I did really well with my meals, I did however have three Chips Ahoy's, I love chocolate.

8 months Natural today!!!!!

So today marks exactly 8 months since I decided to big chop my hair. I still have no regrets I'm loving my hair and the versatility I have with my hair. I'm still rocking my two strand twists I am going to make it an effort to stay out of my hair for at least another day. HIHD (Hand in hair disease) is a horrible thing lol!!

Deep Conditioning with 2 strand twists

So I started on my hair at 1pm and didn't finish until 7:30 pm. Why so long you may ask well, first I had to make my avocado mix. 2 avocados, Suave Humectant VO5 Tea Therapy and Free Me Fresia, Herbal Essences Hello Hydration, LustraSilk Shea Butter Conditioner. I dumped all this into my food processor until I have the creamy consistency I was looking for. I basically used the same process as before. This time I left it on my hair about a hour and a half before I washed it out. I really didn't know what style I wanted to try but because of my now hectic schedule I figured I better do a style that is going to last for a little while so mini twists it was. My hair has grown a lot in my opinion and so far I have no evidence of any heat damage from yesterday's botched straightening experiment.

Update Seriously over due

Okay lifehas been extremely busy and I have been neglecting this blog and my hair :( I just took my hair out of kinky twists and have been rocking my puff, which has definitely grown. I even successfully was able to get my hair into two afro puffs. I actually think my hair is approaching the length it was when I did my BC back in February. I can't believe it's been almost 8 months.

I actually did a twist out mohawk when I went out to celebrate my birthday. I'm so loving my hair in its natural state. Seriously never going back to creamy crack ever again. I can do so many more styles with my hair now and it is much healthier. The third picture was my very first attempt at two strand flat twists, I think I did a pretty good job. Two strand twists are my second most favorite style and I plan on doing some in the morning after I do a much needed deep conditioning. I actually straightened my hair today just to check my growth and I couldn't stand it. For one I don't have the patience to completely straighten it nor do I want heat damage, so I sort of have this semi straight natural afro going on. I'm so washng my hair in the morning straight hair is not for me I like my curls scratch that I love my curls. My hair is finally starting to grown down and hang as oppossed to the growing out and poofy look. As each month passes I am getting more and more curl definition.

2 strand twists followed by a twistout puff

4 months after I did my big cut and I am still loving my hair, in 2 months I am going to do a blow out and see exactly how big my fro has gotten. These pictures are a few days old and I am actually rocking a twist out puff. Not exactly sure what style I am going to try next but I do know one thing I love my hair in it's natural state.
The products I used to achieve this look I cowashed with QP Elasta Moisturizing Shampoo then I used Hello Hydrations Conditioner. I separated my hair in to several sections moisturized my hair with Shea butter then proceeded to twist my hair in each section. My hair took about 3.5 hours but only because I kept stopping and doing other things. I left my hair like this Sunday thru Thursday and rocked a twistout puff from Thursday night until currently. Still having issues with the middle front part of my hair. No idea what's going on my hair is completely natural but that part is straight with minimal curl pattern which kind of makes certain styles impossible to achieve.

Coils, Coils and More Coils

Wow I have not been updating like I should be. Haven't really done many styles on my hair, just been rocking a puff or a wash and go eventually pulled back into a puff. But today I decided enough was enough. I sectioned off my hair spritzed it with some water and applied Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding section by section. I did some flat twists on each side and left the front middle undone. I finger coiled the rest of my hair and then finger coiled the front middle towards the front. I think my hair came out really nice and, I even got a few compliments on it. My hair kind of looks like I have dred locks or like I'm starting the lock process, who knows maybe I will leave my hair like this and keep tightening them and go ahead and lock my hair. Did I mention I am 3 months post BC, and I have no regrets I love the versatility of my hair in its natural state.

World Natural Hair and Beauty Show 2010

OMG I just had the time of my life. I woke up this morning and went to the early service at church just so I could go to the hair show today. It was my first hair show and definitely will not be my last. So first things first I walk in the the GICC (Georgia International Convention  Center),  the first booth I made it too was Miss Jessie's, now I have been dying to try their products for some time now but money has been tight and they were sold out at Target. Anyway I walked around the show and standing smack dab in front of me is one of my favorite Youtube video makers NikkiMae, seriously watching her videos along with others gave me the courage to BC. I absolutely love her energy and spirit she is so laid back and nice. I have learned so much from watching her videos and I hope to be able to continue to grow out my hair like hers.

I really wish I was able to attend the show on Saturday also or get their a little earlier today I did miss the Miss Jessie Goody bags but what I got in return was worth so much more. I decided to make another lap around the shown when I found out Miss Jessie's was doing free consultations. So I get in the line and lo and behold the next free chair is non other than Miko, one of the co-founders of Miss Jessie's. She has such beautiful hair and the original plan was for her to do one section of my hair and let me see the difference but after 1 section Miko said let me do another section and this continued until my whole head was done. Apparently my hair loves MJ's curly pudding, I new I had kind of a curl pattern in the back but after she was done spritzing my whole head with water then adding the curly pudding my whole head had curls that pooped. I am in love with my new look that I will definitely be trying once I get some MJ products on hand. My hair is so soft and still holding the curls.

Totally Twisted

So once again I was surfing the net looking for hairstyles to try out on my TWA. All last week I wore puffs or a curly fro but this week I needed something new. There isn't much I can do with my hair at the moment because it is so short but I'm willing to try anything once. So the style I chose this time is similar to a previous style I did before. I did two strand twists all over my head except on the left side of my head, this is where I flat twisted my hair diagonally and then 2 strand twisted the ends.

Products Used:
My conditioner Mix-- VO5 Moisture Milks Passion Fruit Smoothie with Water
My Shea Butter Mix
IC Fantasia Gel- The pink one
Castor Oil to seal

How I achieved this style:

First I saturated my hair with my conditioner mix then I divided my hair into several sections, the only section I actually parted out was the left side for the flat twists.

I first started on the right side. I re-spritzed my hair with my conditioner mix the applied some IC fantasia gel to my hair and started to 2 strand twist my hair.

The next section I did was the front, I 2 strand twisted my hair towards the front using the same products I used on the right side. Next I moved on to the left side of my hair, I divided my hair into sections and then started to flat twist my hair and then 2 strand twisted the ends. My hair was starting to get a little dry so I re-spritzed my hair, my hair sucks up water.

Now it was time to finally tackle the back of my head, I usually get tired around this section and get a little lazy and getting sloppy with my twists but these actually came out nice.

Finished Hair Style Photos, feel free to leave comments, questions and etc.

Yay!! Today marks my 1 month post Big Chop

As the title says today March 15, 2010 is the 1 month mark since I decided to do the big chop. I am still in love with my TWA. I still get some friends that ask why I cut my hair and now what do I plan to do. Well I plan to let my hair grow and I cut my hair because the 2 textures were not whats up anymore and it was time to get rid of my damaged ends. Not going to do a length check yet because it's only been a month and I really want something to celebrate in a few months. Here are some pictures from February 15, 2010 and today.

The first picture of each angle is from February 15. Not much growth as far as I can see but my hair is definitely looking more healthy and I definitely got rid of most of those straight ends, till have a few but not many left.
