It's officially been one week since I BC'd

Omg, I never knew how much I would love my hair I Have gotten so many compliments but more important than that is the fact that my hair looks and feels much more healthier.

<<---- Last Week's TWA with a few permed ends left

<<--- TWA after 1 week 99.5% completely natural, still have a few permed ends

If you read my last blog then you know that I was going to try something new with my hair today. I found this on Youtube and the poster is NiaSoPurdy:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HubnRE-QF6o
I think I am going to do this every two to three weeks or as needed when I feel like I have a lot of product buildup. The recipe calls for 1 cup of conditioner 1/4 cup Baking soda and one cap full of you favorite oil, I used Coconut oil just because I love the way it smells and at the time I could not find my olive oil. I tried to do like she did and mix everything in a spray bottle but the baking soda kept the spray bottle clogged so I had to improvise. I basically just poured the mix all over my head and massaged it and raked it through. After I had all of my hair coated I rinsed it out and did a ACV rinse followed by my conditioner. I then applied my shea butter mix to my hair massaged it in and detangled the rest of my hair even though it was pretty much already all the way detangled.
Here is a picture of what my hair looked like with out any product in my hair. I actually can see some curl definition, I can't wait until my hair grows a little longer so I can really see my curl pattern.
The last 2 photos are of my hair after it is completely moisturized with Shea Butter and sealed with Coconut oil. I think I am going to leave my hair like this for at least a day, just to give it a break because I have been seriously playing in my hair for the last week and I don't want to cause any unnecessary stress and breakage. So until next time.

Products Used today:
Suave Proffesionals Humectant Conditioner
Baking Soda
Apple Cider Vineger
VO5 Moisture Milks Conditioner (just a little)
Mane and Tail Conditioner (just a little)
Shea Butter Mix

I finally had enough

So I know its been a while since I have updated this page but life has taken over. If you have been following this blog then you know I have been struggling with doing a BC or transitioning longer. I remember getting my last relaxer in June 2009 then highlights in July 2009 I'm almost 90% sure I didn't get a touch up in August and I know I didn't in September so in total I transitioned 6 1/2 months before I finally had enough. The time it was taking to style my hair with the two different textures was outrageous, so I hopped in the car headed to the nearest beauty supply store and picked up some scissors.

This is one of the many before pictures I had taken this day. It seems like no matter what I tried to do with my hair nothing came out right and I was tired of rocking flat twists and bantu knots.

I had so much water and gel in my hair just to slick it down into some sort of make shift roll. But no matter what I did those darn permed ends reared their ugliness. It was officially time they had to go.

Here is a close up of the new growth. I love my waves they inspired me to go ahead and do the "BC", and chop I did. I jumped in the shower and whipped out the scissors and made the first cut and the rest is history. I cut and cut and cut some more until 97% of the permed ends were no longer attached to my head.
I can now officially say I am not my hair, I feel so much better now that I am no longer hanging on to those dead ends because they gave me length. Now my hair can grow back healthier and stronger.

This is the style I was rocking for my interview today.

To transition or Big Chop....

.....that is the question

So I have been sitting here again thinking about just ending it all. Not in the sense of some people mean I mean just cutting off all my relaxed ends and finally having only one hair texture. But then I know I will miss me hair no matter how damaged it is it is still my hair. It's the 9th of December now and I know I'm going to keep these yarn twists in at least until the end of the month I might just say to hell with it and lop it all off for the new year. Since I plan on starting my new life anyway I might as well have new hair to go with my new attitude. I guess I'm just scared of how it will look not that I care what other people say or think. Because after all it is only only and it will grow back. Let's see since I'm going to say I have been transitioning since September that means I have about 3 months of new growth who know how much it has grown, I really haven't looked to gauge the natural length but next time I wash my hair (after I remove the twists) I am going to definitely take a long hard look. In the mean time I just going to sit here contemplating my next hair move.
